Some commercials are just annoying, and perhaps they motivate me to turn the volume down a few notches. But some commercials are downright offensive to my sensibilities, to the point where I have to either mute them or change the channel altogether to avoid seeing even one more moment of them. This, to me, is [...]

There’s some kind of hunger PSA that keeps playing on Hulu that shows little kids holding signs with sad slogans about how they’re too poor to eat. The first child they show, however, does not gain my sympathy as much as the others, because it sounds pretty much like my life.

Is there any other way to interpret this ad than the way I am, which is that they’re tweaking the phrase “get your smoke on,” meaning get high?

I don’t know what to categorize this so-called EDAY as. It’s a project of Earth Day New York, if that helps. Anyway, it is encouraging people to be good to the environment or something, a noble cause, but they’re going about it all wrong.
Let’s start with the name. The campaign, both on the subway ads [...]

I’m not sure exactly when these Feed the Pig ads started, but I’m fairly sure it was this year. Either way, they’re stupid. I think they’re supposed to be public service announcements encouraging people to save money, but the only thing they’re successful at is giving me nightmares. That freaky pig needs to go away.

This Ninja Turtle-starring anti-drug ad was all the rage when it came out in the early 90s. By which I mean, it was really easy to make fun of. No better retort has ever been uttered…once a drug user hears that a square thinks he’s a turkey, clearly he’ll stop using drugs and rethink his [...]

I didn’t think insurance fraud was the kind of thing that warranted commercials, but apparently, The New York Fraud Fight disagrees. Their new public service announcement has been playing a lot lately, and it’s so overly dramatic. A young man curses his father’s existence, yelling things like “Hypocrite!” and “Liar!” in an empty sound stage, [...]

Have you seen these new ads for not doing steroids?
Watch the stupid-ass video now (different formats available)
They’re totally lame. There have been some fairly innovative anti-drug ads lately, like “Stoners in the Mist,” this amazing series of online potheads-as-safari-animals shorts on the website AbovetheInfluence.org.
But this steroid shit is a straight-up throwback to the [...]
