Elisabeth Moss for Excedrin?

The new TV ad for Excedrin Migraine stopped me in my tracks (well, I was on the couch, so I guess you would say it stopped my eyeballs in their sockets). “Is that Peggy from Mad Men?” I asked nobody in particular. The commercial didn’t make it obvious that it was her (by, say, putting her name on the screen), and the company doesn’t typically use celebs in their commercials, so was it really her?

Well, Jezebel answered my question in this post. And the answer is yes. The video is not being friendly to embedding, so, uh, I guess you should just watch it at Jezebel.

But the whole Peggy being in an advertisement is a little weird, considering her character in Mad Men. What would Don Draper think of this ad? More importantly, what would Sal have thought of it? Couldn’t she have jazzed it up with a number from Bye Bye Birdie? I know it’s just a commercial about an over-the-counter pill, but dammit, it’s really about America.

I have no idea who Elizabeth Moss is, but I’ve seen this commercial since I was a kid and always HATED it because this girl just looked SO DAMNED GREASY!!! I thought this commercial had finally faded into obscurity, but I’ve been seeing it again recently, and her greasy-ass hair is once again bringing the bile up in my gullet.

I LOVE that commercial. I’m not an Excedrin person, but when I saw it it blew me away. I said OMG is that Elizabeth Moss from Mad Men? That soft sensual voice confirmed it for me, then I searched online to make sure. I was surprised to find out that it’s an old commercial. Bravo Excedrin, smart move.

Yes, this is very OLD commercial. When Mad Men first came on, Elisabeth Moss looked vaguely familiar to me, and then I realized that she was the girl from “that old Excedrin commercial”. The commercial aired years before Mad Men came on. I did recently see it on TV, however. My guess is Excedrin started re-airing the ad, now that Elisabeth Moss is in a hit show, thinking they can capitalize on her new-found fame.

Totally! Whenever I see that commercial I think “Elisabeth moss must be PISSED”. She probably did it when she was low on cash. I feel like I saw it in the 90s. I definitely remember when it originally aired.

Interesting! That puts a different spin on it. I wonder what kind of compensation she’s getting for this new re-airing of the old ad.

This is a much older commercial, long before Mad Men was a show.

I remember seeing this commercial when Invasion was on. She starred on this show from 2005-2006. A teenager that was impreganated with an alien. Which was 4 years ago. Time flies.

Oh my gawd, here’s the apology I owe my husband…………..I was WRONG, WRONG, WRONG – - OK you are right (again) and I was wrong. Yes, you never, never forget a face and you got another one right – damnit!!!

(When the commercial appeared he was sooooo loud in trying to convince me that “…she’s the the girl from Mad Men…look, look, look…it’s the girl from Mad Men…I know I’m right…I never forget a face…admit it…it’s her isn’t it…yes I know it’s her…etc….” which resulted me in being equally adament that he was wrong (mostly because he’s not interested in Mad Men and doesn’t sympathize with my melacholonic mood brought on by several more months until I can return to Don Draper fantasies.)

Any suggestions on creative ways to prepare crow?

So sorry about your losing the bet, and I also am distraught at having to wait to find out what happens to Don Draper et al. Glad my borderline-OCD tendency to recognize celebrities in things and look it up to confirm is of use to somebody! Thanks for reading :)

She looks so young! I couldn’t even recognize her. Thanks for confirming–so hard to believe she did a commercial, not even an endorsement. What’s with that?

This commercial was around a few years ago but without the pillarbox/letterbox effect. It was definitely before “Mad Men”. I think the product packaging may have changed and in order to include the new design they used the hand closeup (may not even by Moss’) showing the new product label.

    • laura says:

Interesting, Evidentress! Good eye, I didn’t catch that, but I absolutely believe it.
And to TheBride, I know, it’s strange, but I think you were right the first time — she was young, just starting out in hollywood most likely.
